Description: I have here for sale 2 volumes bound as 1 book of PARADISE REGAINED, SAMSON AGONISTES, COMUS, AND ARCADES plus THE MINOR POEMS - LYCIDAS, L'ALLEGRO, IL PENSEROSO, SONNETS, ODES, MISCELLANIES, TRANSLATIONS , POEMATA by JOHN MILTON. With 8 engraved plates after by Richard Westall and engraved by Charles Rolls all dated 1827. This first edition was published in 1827 by JOHN SHARPE, London. A lovely copy. Provenance: Bookplate of Captain W. St. Pierre Bunbury, Royal Artillery Bound in full leather boards. Gilt embossed harp(?) and blind embossed decorative border to both boards. Gilt title lettering to the spine. Spine and board edges are a little rubbed and a little surface wear to the boards. Gilt fore-edges. Gilt embossed dentelle. Original yellow endpapers. Bookplate to the inside of the front board. Foxing to the edges of the plates otherwise the pages are clean and bright. This book is in very good condition, it is tightly bound with no loose or missing pages Book 1 lines are numbered 1-639, 2nd volume 183pp 14cm x 10cm. Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped.
