Wilkinson (1757-1825) was a soldier and adventurer in the American Revolution. He was a controversial figure who found himself in front of several Courts-Martial, on one occasion accused of conspiring with the Spanish to set up an independent nation in the West. He served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution, but was twice compelled to resign. Wilkinson’s long and detailed memoir, full of justification of his own actions, but a vital work for the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Burr conspiracy. RAREA1816KRSL
