Description: I have here for sale a rare book entitled THE SWISS EMIGRANTS: A Tale by Hugh Murray. It is a second edition published in 1806 by Longman Hurst Rees and Orme, London. Murray published this book; two philosophical treatises (The Morality of Fiction, 1805, and Enquiries Respecting the Character of Nations, 1808); and another romance, Corasmin, or the Minister, in 1814 but was best known for his Encyclopædia of Geography, a Description of the Earth, physical, statistical, civil, and political (London, 1834). Bound in full speckled brown leather hardboards with gilt motifs and maroon leather title block with gilt lettering to the spine. Boards firm and in very good condition. Inscription to front endpaper and some light foxing throughout. Pages firmly bound. 123 pages, 17 cm x 10 cm.
