This will not effect the functionality of the plates but if one desires the tarnish to be removed, simply use a scour pad and scuff off the surface until desired finish is achieved. (Lemon juice will speed up this process) Make sure to wash the plate thoroughly with light dish soap and dry immediately. Water will also tarnish the surface if left on the plate for too long.
