The first edition of this work illustrated by Thomas Bewick with about fifteen woodcuts in text throughout. A scarce volume comprising poems by Joseph Relph. The poems are grouped under various categories, being 'Pastorals,' 'Translations and Imitations,' 'Epistles,' 'Fables,' 'Songs,' and 'Epigrams.'With a biography of the author. CONDITION Bound in contemporary boards. Externally sound with slight shelfwear and edge wear with some considerable loss to the spine. With a bookplate by James Rolt to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean throughout with minor faint spotting to the occasional leaf. With various wood engravings by Thomas Bewick.
