English sterling hallmark lion passant is partially worn off but was otherwise easy to determine. Adding to the fact that we could verify Smith & Fearn who worked exclusively with sterling and the date code “A” which corresponds to 1796. This is a very large - over 12 inches considering the curvature of the spoon - and very heavy at 186 grams (5.980 Oz Troy). This ladle is 224 years old.
