Description: Presented is a handsome pair of English Georgian sterling silver sugar tongs made by Richard Crossley of London. The tongs are decorated with bright cut engraving in the form of flowers, leaves and flourishes. The tongs are hallmarked on the inside of the arms with the lion passant for sterling silver, the duty mark of King George III’s head, the date letter ‘r’ for 1792, and a maker’s mark of RC for Richard Crossley. The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs. The tongs are 5 3/8 inches long. The weight is 36.4 grams or 1.3 ounces.
