Description: 1787 New Jersey copper coin, Camel Head, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by NGC as VG details. We have started showing post-colonial State coins! The first one is back from NGC. If you're going to have a horse on your collectible coin, have a cute one, and one of the post-Revolution die cutters achieved this when his obverse horse came out looking somewhat like a camel. And so the New Jersey Copper Camel Head variety, Maris 56-n, was minted across several Maris varieties. There is plenty of detail in this Very Good range, with its peripheral damage laying at the rims (and mostly out of sight in the NGC holder). This specimen also features an approx. 15 degrees clockwise rotation of the reverse strike. With a shout-out to New Jersey, a unique state among 50 and even the original 13 for minting its State coins when the 1781 Articles of Confederation conferred that authority until superceded ca. 1789 by the U.S. Constitution, and to post-colonial coin collectors, we offer you a chance to acquire this specimen from history!
