Description: Beautiful map of 2 different battlefields in 4 vignettes. These maps from the war were put together for the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies in the War of The Rebellion, often referred to as the "OR's". In 1895, they were compiled into a book to accompany the Official Records, it included 175 plates of which were all frameable and were 28" by 18.5". They came to you as monthly packets like the old BMG Records, you received a cover that had the titles of the plates enclosed in your packet and each month or so you would receive another, how long it took to complete I don't know and I'm guessing at the monthly intervals. The map shows in the big quadrant the Battlegrounds of Richmond, VA 1862-3, approved April 3, 1863, Albert H. Campbell and signed off by Robert E. Lee, Genl. The other 3 areas show the Battlefields and Confederate works around Williamsburg, VA during May 5 & 6th, 1862. Some separation at the fold, top and bottom. These maps are really detailed and beautiful. It's 129 years old! Comes rolled in a mailing tube.
