Description: 1/1 Yadier Molina 2004 Bowman Chrome Superfractor Blue Refractor Holy Grail RC Offered is the one and only Bowman Chrome Yadier Molina Superfractor Rookie. In 2004, Bowman Chrome featured several Yadier Molina rookies: the base version, Refractor (Unnumbered; 500 made), Gold Refractor #/50, Xfractor #/172, and Blue Refractor #/290. Blue Refractors were redeemed via The Pit and sent in sealed one touch holders. Those that were unopened when graded are referred to as Uncirculated; those that were opened already when graded are not. Blue Refractors were only produced for First Year players, a nod to the design element that featured blue accent stripes around First Year players’ cards and red striping around Veteran players. HOWEVER, Bowman Chrome also produced unannounced unnumbered Blue Refractor superfractors of several select veteran players, including Ken Griffey Jr, Chipper Jones, Derek Jeter, and Albert Pujols. Each features the Red Veteran Striping, but are Blue Refractors and say so on the back. THIS is the only known First Year player to be included in this exclusive group. Together with the four Veteran players, these five are the only known examples, with only one of each produced. Unlike the four Veterans, Yadi’s card is the only one to feature the First Year Blue Striping. But wait, isn’t this just a No Serial Number error? … No. Of all the numbered editions (Gold Refractor #/50 x 330 card full set = 16,500, Xfractor #/172 x 330 full card set = 56,760 and Blue Refractor #/290 x 165 First Year card set = 47,850) totaling 121,110, there is NOT ONE example of a Missing Serial Number error across 1) PSA Pop Report 2) BGS Pop Report 3) SGC Pop Report 4) eBay Current or Completed Listings OR 5) Anywhere else online, even anecdotally. The ONLY examples are these five unique, unannounced but clearly deliberately made cards. Considering the only other production process scenario in which a card may not be serial numbered, when a printing defect is identified during quality control inspections prior to serial numbering, this possibility may be eliminated as this card exhibits no such defects. With the 1st Bowman Chrome Refractor card being the undisputed king of rookie cards for most every player this century, and Yadier Molina’s only numbered Refractor parallels being numbered out of /50 (Gold Refractor), /172 (Xfractor), and /290 (Blue Refractor), with NO PRINT PLATES released, this unique card has the distinction of being The Holy Grail of Yadier Molina rookies: The Bowman Chrome Blue Superfractor RC.
