The base is beveled clear acrylic. Be sure to compare your item to the measurements in the ad. Due to the style of this stand, flat items, (plates, tiles, slabs card-stock, etc.) will display at about a 45 degree angle. This will cause your item to be top heavy in the stand. A good rule of thumb is, the item to be displayed should not exceed 2 times the height of the rear peg. (For example, a 1" tall stand will hold a 2" tall item.)
